Like artists in other disciplines, Caribbean visual artists are world-recognised
as innovators of new indigenous schools and styles, as well as outstanding
exponents of European and other traditions. The craft, pottery and textile
work of the region's native Indian populations, the wood carving skills
of artisans from Suriname to Cuba, the paintings of Haiti's visual artists,
are some of the examples that come to mind. The region presents an astounding
range of work and sheer talent in the disciplines within the visual arts.
